Debate on the Energy Transition with Guillaume Pitron

As part of the 2021 edition of the Monaco Ocean Week, the Mission for Energy Transition (MTE) had the pleasure to invite you to a debate, on Wednesday 24th March from 4.30 to 6 pm, on the following theme: « Energy transition and impact on resources: two compatible goals? ».

How can we lead a responsible energy transition? It consists in knowing and understanding the impacts of energy solutions on resources, in order to reduce them and lead the most sustainable transition possible, but also in thinking of the ways in favor of energy sobriety.

The debate brought together 6 speakers and was moderated by Annabelle Jaeger-Seydoux, Director of the MTE. Attending the event was possible online only.

It was centred around a presentation by Guillaume Pitron, French journalist, a specialist in raw materials geopolitics, documentary producer and author of the book: « La guerre des métaux rares - La face cachée de la transition énergétique et numérique ».

The other 5 participants were:

  • François Contal, Territorial Delegate for the Alpes-Maritimes and the Var at “Capenergies” : PACA Innovation Centre, which brings technical support to the MTE on energy transition subjects
  • Julien Dejanovic, Director of Digital Services (Délégation Interministérielle à la Transition Numérique du Gouvernement Princier)
  • Nicolas Meunier, Senior Consultant at « Carbone 4 » : number 1 independant consultancy office specialised in low carbon strategies and adaptation to climate change
  • Pierfranck Pelacchi, Business Development Director at SMEG : Monaco’s electricity provider
  • François Richard, Co-founder of Lanéva : Start-up which deploys, in Monaco, 100% electric boats

The debate was followed by a Q & R session with the attendants online.

Shortly we will share with you here a link to watch a recording of the event.
