Responsible Procurement Conference

For most companies, purchased goods and services represent a major part of their global greenhouse gas emissions, ranging from 60 to 80% for service industries. Indeed, procurement can have significant environmental impacts, from the manufacturing of goods, their transport or end of life for example. Buyers have the power to impose or encourage providors to meet environmental requirements. This practice is called responsable procurement, which can also address social and governance criteria in addition to environmental criteria.

On June 22nd 2022, the Mission for Energy Transition had the please to welcome Mrs Nathalie Paillon, director of studies and operations at the Observatoire français de l'Achat Responsable (ObsAR) and a certified trainer, who have a talk on responsable procurement. She defined what is responsible procurement, why it should be practiced and how to do it. After that, institutional and private members of the National Pact briefly presenter their good practices in this field. Participants could then ask their questions and exchange ideas.
