Alongside many other nations, Monaco signed the Paris Agreement and adopted ambitious targets to reduce its greenhouse gas emissions as well as a strategy for achieving those targets. It is in this context that the Mission for Energy Transition in Monaco, supported by carbon company ICARE ENVIRONNEMENT, is offering businesses which have signed the National Pact expert support to help them set their own medium- and long-term targets and low-carbon strategy. Four workshops have been organised (tourism and events sector, small businesses (fewer than 10 employees), building/manufacturing and transport and businesses from all sectors with more than 10 staff).
These follow on from a launch conference held online on Friday 28 May, and comprise two steps:
1) the completion of a greenhouse gas emissions assessment tailored to the context and activities of the business, using an expanded version of the Pact Carbon Coach
2) the establishment of targets and a path to reduce emissions in line with the Paris Agreement and the Principality’s commitments.
This has multiple advantages for businesses who have signed up, helping them to accelerate their commitment to the transition to a low-carbon economy; equipping them with efficient, easy-to-understand management tools; and enabling them to discover and engage with a wide variety of stakeholders in Monaco, including businesses, associations and institutions, who are all working in support of the energy transition.
The carbon guide will become their dedicated point of contact, supporting them throughout the initiative, answering their questions and helping them to validate the results achieved.
Nearly 190 organisations have now committed alongside us to reducing the Principality’s greenhouse gas emissions.
